was chaos -  the before picture - I will follow up with blow by blow descriptions of the construction process of my new work space. This is a shot of how it is today June 22, 2009, this is occupying about 1/3 of a 2 car garage at the moment, final objective is to have at least 1/2 of the space filled with glassing work areas. (Rest of the space is filled with "STUFF" beginning immediately to the left of the current 'work bench' (none too steady folding table that is adjustable in height)).

Hope to begin getting the materials to build the 4' x 8' work bench next week (June 29 - July 3).

Alan

can't wait to see the progress on this...

I have a 12 x 18 room with slanted ceilings so I'm very envious of all that space...

Sounds like us! When we bought our house 8 years ago, our realtor joked with us and said that a 2 car garage is actually a "one car garage with room for junk." We managed to keep one side clear for a single car during our first winter in this house. Now, it's a "0 car garage filled with just about everything one can imagine except a car."

Looks like a great space to get your glassing on, I'm looking forward to seeing your progress! Be sure to post neat ideas that you get along the way!

I am jealous of your space.  Our garage is used for its original purpose-2 cars and 2 motorcycles (in the winter) or 2 motorcycles and 1 car (in nice weather).  No room for glass out there.   cry

Wow, what a concept, a garage that really is a garage.  Our is a guitar shop! I parked my car in it once but my hubby had conniptions because the car dripped dirty water on the floor!! Last time the car saw the inside of the garage. Oh well, I have my shop, what can I say!.

Good luck Alan, now that you have posted this, you are on the hook, to show us how you convert your space LOL

Seriously, we are happy for you that you will be having a space of you desire to do the glass.  My space has been changed at least 4 times in 4 years.  I keep finding a better lay out for it.  Have fun.

Ours is too cold in Winter, too hot in Summer! And the garage downstairs is for the mowers and garden shed stuff.

Very nice, Alan!!  Wish I could use our garage, but I've gotten really spoiled with parking our vehicle in it.   Giggle  Future plan is to turn our walk up attic into my studio.  Can't wait!! dancing  Right now I've got a few tables set up in our bonus room...it works! :)

DH built me a beautiful 4 x 8 bench last year, with shelves below. The bench is 37 inches high so that when I'm working on a project I don't strain my back. While working, I pretty much stand all the time but, on rare occasion, I sit on a stool with my feet propped on the shelf comfortably.

Can't wait to see the progress Alan.... Pictures

Did not post a picture. As a matter of fact I have not even started on anything that even closely resembles a work bench - also right now the garage has even LESS glass work space than in the picture. One thing or another has prevented me from even getting the materials to build my work space. Biggest problem is the $ - too much of the month left when the $ run out.
But rest assured, I will post pictures when, not if, I start the construction of the workbench.

Alan, I think we can all understand the concept of I have to much month and not enough money, cause it comes in on a spoon and goes out on a shovel. LOL
