Thanks everyone...

I was really happy about how well she picked out the pieces to match the shapes she had -- except for about 5 of them, I had minimal cutting...

I printed the template for the next one and this time we are going to just lay pieces out and do no cutting (I hope); should be interesting trying to get the round edge but I think I have some scrap from inside curves that will work... might start that one tonight or tomorrow depending on how we feel...

I have a feeling that it's going to take me awhile before I find a workable scrap pattern to work with, but I've started laying it out..and little by little I'll come up with something..of course the entire shop may be laid out with various pieces of scrap before I've really decided on something.
I must have the most boring shaped pieces of scrap on the planet!  LOL.

De,

instead of making a pattern and trying to find the shapes that work, my plan is to start with a template of what the final shape needs to be and trace the glass onto it and then number so I can remember which goes where... where I am doing stepping stones, I have a lot more room for things not to fit perfectly :-)

Love your stepping stone, LA! :)  Those are going to look really nice by the pool.

I am almost finished my scrap project.  I must admit...it was difficult for me to just lay pieces down randomly.  I usually stick to patterns, but it was fun project to do.  Hopefully I'll be able to post pics today or tomorrow. :) Looking forward to seeing what everybody comes up with.

Meaco, I love it.  What a pretty candle holder.  How long did it take you to do.  and how tall is it.

It took about 2 evenings to do.  I cut out a piece of paper 4" wide X 8 1/2" tall and arranged my glass and globs the way I wanted them...did that 4 times.  The part that really slowed me down was the glass globs...I just tacked soldered everything at first.  Well, trying to get the whole glob soldered nicely on the piece was a pain!  On the other 3 I soldered the whole glob first and then put it in the piece.  That went more smoothly! :)

Oh my gosh Meaco that candleholder is GREAT!  That was just a super idea!  I'll bet it throws some nice color when the candle is lit inside!!

thanks Nancy but there was no plan here, just whatever fit went down

won't be doing another one of these any time soon either, took too much time...

Meaco's candleholder is in the finished project thread associated with this...
