The retailers' group went to Wheaten last summer.  They had a group and several classes were arranged just for them.  I wasn't able to go, but I heard that it was great.  Also economical because they have lodging and food.  Corning is also supposed to be great.

A hard decision for sure. I like the idea of the possibility of classes being set up for us as a group..that would rock.

It sounds like great fun to me!  I live in Southern California, and being in 2010 would give me a chance to save to, hopefully, be able to make it!  What time of year is being considered?

Yay! I wanna go!

Boy with all the interest everyone is starting to show, it looks like we could have a great number of members joining in on the fun.  How wonderful.  I am so looking forward to seeing you all.

Where is the beginning of this discussion. I feel like I walked in on the middle of an idea.

Is the plan to get folks together at a class of our group choosing? Or are they having a conference you are looking at?

We are thinking of Wheaton in NJ or Corning in Ny.  Check out the 2 and give us your opinion

I'd be inclined to pick CMOG . . . classes and such are fine,  but what interests me at CMOG is the glass blowing.
We can all reasonably afford to try glass painting, beading, mosiacs, etc. all the various facets we participate in.
But I;d dare say very very few of us can afford to set up our own glass blowing shop, so the experience would be
novel and rewarding for all participants.

Just my two cents worth . . . . haven't committed to going yet, but I'm keeping my options open.

Having dealt with the planning of The American Glass Guild conferences. The first thing you should do is look into near by hotel accomodations. An expensive hotel will kill your idea in a hurry. June is a tourist season in both locations. You may be better off looking at early spring for better prices/deals. Corning is nice, but in the country. Weaton is not far from Philia, Atlantic City and NYC. Weaton may be more applying as people can easily visit these other places.

Ken Leap is affliated with Weaton and Bryn Athyn Cathedral, maybe contact him.
