1 year ago my mother-in-law died.  I took some of the flowers from the wake and pressed them.  Recently I came up with a use for them.  I made a commerative frame for my wife.  The frame includes the flowers and the memorial card from the wake.  I also put on of the cards in from her dad, who died 12 years ago.

The center of the frame is 2 layers of glass thick.  I held them carefully glued the items to the black glass and placed the float glass on top.  I clamped them together and carefully foiled around the edges.  I only had 7/32" foil at home so I overlapped the foil.  I used flux very sparingly and carefully soldered it together.  My wife wanted the piece to be able to stand so I put to supports onto the back of it.

Scooch, What a lovely memorial to your wife's parents. I love the pressed flowers and the glass you picked are wonderful. I'm sure this will be a cherished item in your home for years to come.

I love the supports

Oh Scooch! It is a nice memorial. Very touching and I'm sure your wife is really pleased you'd do it! You could probably get a lot of commissions for these!

Don't know about the commissions at this point.  To many unknowns.  I have no idea if the flowers will hold up over time.  I think they will, but I have never tried this before.

That is beautiful!  And a thoughtful thing to do for your wife.

But the supports are weak. You need a piece of glass or hard metal betweeh them or they will "hinge" right off.

I know.  I will be adding small triangles to the base of them.  This will add a lot of strength to it.

I have a piece that was given to me decades ago.  it is a pair of bevels that were foiled and soldered with a pressed flower in the middle.  It has faded some, but otherwise has held up pretty well (the hanger finally fell off about a year ago and I need to get it fixed).  I am attaching a photo so that you can see how it has held up over decades of hanging in the sun.

Your piece is really nice!
