After the 3 days of talks and laughs, they offer a bus tour to different locations to look at glass. This year we started off at Sacred Heart Major Seminary to see Windows by Margaret Cavanaugh in two small chapels .

These are in the graduate chaple. All the spheres are sandblasted faces.

At the other end of the building complex is the college chaple. She deeply sand carved these people.

The center of the complex opened into a huge traditional church. It was not on our list of things to see but some of us snuck in anyway  Evil Grin

I like the boarders with roses in it.

All of these pictures are wonderful.  I really miss Mchigan in the spring, summer and fall.  Detroit is always interesting. Its a shame it has such a bad reputation.   I have a friend who has a friend that says she left Detroit because it has no coulture.   I think she never left her house.  I'm glad you enjoyed your trip and classes.

Thanks, I loved it, and I really enjoyed the people! There is definitely culture there. We were in Greektown, and that is not just it's name.

I will continue posting more photos later. Busy day today. We saw a realy cool bevel wall.

Visitors often see cultural qualities in a city or town that natives miss. I think it's a "Familiarity breeds contempt" thing. If a play is good, it's good, whether it's in Podunk or New York. And the rest of the world thinks of Motown as culture, not Beethoven perhaps, but culture, damned straight.

The center art above the place they keep the Torah, reminded me of the burning bush.

The hardest part, is there is always someone in the way while you are trying to take a photo.  Duck

 Giggle

I just love her little birds. And look how she treated the line work differently in the three heads of wheat.

What great pics!  Oh I so love LaFarges windows, can't get enough of them, the color.  You gave us a good sense of the plating in them with your pictures.  Just lovely and THANKS!

It's almost like being there, I wish I had been.  It appears that Detroit has much to offer in the way of stained glass to look at.

A few more photos before I take off for a week.

I am not sure of the name of this place. It was a Jewish school, I think.

The bevel sculptures form the three Patriarchs .

I was impressed with the shapes of the frame. In the top you can make out faces.
