If in doubt, put a little note in with it for the care of it and say "not dishwasher safe".

I always place "Care and Feeding" cards out with my glass work and always recommend hand washing.  I know that there are quite a few artists out there that use there own dishware and put it in the diswasher with no problems...I just don't recommend it to my customers.

Here they are post firing. I must say I'm a little disappointed in the white frit. I suspected it might settle into the depressions, but thought at least it would be a bright white...NOT! Even though it is totally fused it still has a granular look to it when you look up close, and is not as bright as it was pre firing. It is what it is at this point, but again...something learned so I guess it's not a total loss. Would I do it differently the next time...yeppers. The next time I will use a clear base with the opals on top, fire, then flip and etch the clear top with the design to give me a whiter more distinctive design. Also, using the originally fired underside of the piece leaves a slight texture from the thinfire, on what will be the final top and is less prone to seeing scratches as opposed to a slick shiny surface. I'm still happy with the pieces, just not totally pleased with the white frit. Maybe making liquid stringer with it and applying the design might leave it brighter....anyone out there with that experience that's knows? Would powder work better? Would it be truer to the intended color when fused?

I like these Kev and you are learning valuable lessons. Many will love to own these too.  The colors are great.

I understand the disappointment with the white frit Kev but the platters are really lovely. What happened to you is what I experienced last year when I was trying to do designs using a medium and fine frit - it just couldn't get it to give me an even line and fuse smoothly. - like what you got on the top curl on the big plate.  You put so darn much work into it and the desired results are just so elusive!  I hope someone here can give you (us) the tips for success when trying to pull that technique off. Regardless though, this is a really nice set!

Maybe if we all put our minds together and do some experiments, we'll figure it out.

You're more patient than me, I got tired of experimenting and just moved on to something else!

I just peeked into the kiln. I have 3 slumped and they look quite  nice regardless of the disappointment with the frit. 2 more to slump tomorrow.

I expected that.  And not everyone would even notice the frit Kev. Just those of us that have tried it and haven't gotten the result we wanted :) - we're our own worst critics!

Thanks Anne! Overall I am quite pleased with the outcome. I am now thinking of adding a base to the large platter, hence the discussion r/t glues. I still have to figure out the frit thing too for future projects.
