Help please!  Can anyone identify this glass?  I made this box from glass I've had for a long time.  I don't remember where I got it, who makes it, or what it's called and I would like to get more...

Thanks!  =))

I am not sure either.  I see a lot of Kokomo in it but it is not common for Kokomo to be 'so nice and irregular'.

Kokomo is my guess also. It also looks like the glass Hobby Lobby sold years ago before they started carring Spectrum. Not sure what brand it was though.

Kokomo is my guess as well. There are a few it could be.

is one of the sides a little textured like the border glass on this stepping stone -- the other side is very shiny, if so, it is gecko glass sold at Hobby Lobby

my first guess however was also kokomo and it is my understanding that if it was the beginning or end of a run, you could get the "nice irregularity" Wayne commented on

They are known as the head and tail of the sheet.

I will take a picture of some heads/tails when I go back to work for those who have never seen them.

If it's the colors you're after, Youghioghny 6647 RG might be close.

This is a picture of either the head (top part of the raw sheet) or the tail (bottom part of the raw sheet).  The two are cut off the sheet leaving a finished size of 32 x 84.

The head shows the typical ripple running the width of it.  The particular color is very dark blue with purple streaks, not great to photograph but good for poppy centers.

Have a look at Kokomo numbers 111 and 246.

It also reminds me of 60-391 Uroboros but that has a bit of texture to it.
60-165 is another uroboros possibility without texture. Nice glass.

Do you have a scrap of that glass or still have the box you made? You could take the sample into a glass shop where they might be able to help out as well.

Thank you!  =))

In the original post, the picture of the box in pieces is the roughest side of the glass and it has the brightest colors, although it isn't very textured at all.  The picture of the inside of the box is the smoothest, shiny side of glass with the less exciting (to me) mixtures of color.  I liked the abrupt irregular bold swatches of color on the rough side so I used that for the outside of the box.

I found a small piece of the sheet but it doesn't have the bright bold colors because I used that part for the box.  I photographed it front and back, and with light.

I'm not sure I have found it yet, but I really appreciate everyone's help and suggestions!

I have a piece of this same glass. I have a friend who went to Wismach Factory a few years ago. He got great prices and some really awsome colored glass for me. Sorry no label on the glass.

If he got it at wissmach in their warehouse most of the glass are end runs or mistakes at least that is what they told me, so this may be a one of a kind.

ohhhh... I see, that must be why I can't find it.  I've purchased several 'bargain boxes' through the years and this possibly came in one of them, although I really don't know for sure.  I guess I was lucky to get it when I did, lol!   Darn though, I really like it and would love to have more.

Thank you so much for helping to solve the mystery!!

Smiles!

memaribeth :
I also think it's Kokomo glass. No reason you can't contact them and ask them about it.  - Tod

PS: Sometimes, Kokomo has boxes of leftovers, unclassifiable and otherwise "unwanted" glass available. These pieces are typically about 8 x 10 and, when available, are packed 50 pieces to a box. These can be a real treat & quite a bargain.
