You guys remember the potmelt that looked like a skirt to me and a Bat to others. Kev did a great job sandblasting the shelf paper off of it. But when I refired it all the yellows turned orange and the oranges got darker. In the first melt the transparent yellows went opaque, now they are changing color. I am not getting this glass hot ever again. I have had 2 bowls crack along the yellow that I thought maybe changed COE now I am not risking the skirt any farther. So here is the project a bit farther down the line. I really like how the rose and leaves turned out. The leaves are fuse from Koko brown and green. They are all from the same sheet so no COE issues. I used darker and lighter parts to get the roses bud covers that hang down. I covered the parts with Super Spray for divit but forgot the edges, so the leaf veins did get frosty. I used Armour Etch on them and refired. I like the results. The rose, like before was a pyramid of shards with a hollow center for the whole thing to slump into. The body I have done twice already. The first was purple and I did not like several things about it. Especially the bubble that ended up on the end of her nose Also to get that deep neck line I had to cut the piece up into several pieces. If I full fused right off, the clear from below works into the cracks and shows the cuts. So I fused to 1380 to just stick things together nice. Then I full fused a second time to flatten her out. It worked. the only seam is at her shoulder. I am happy!

Yes, what a great way to create a design, glass first, then idea! I also notice that you're holding the wineglass, and in perfect position I might add. It looks like you're toasting the dancer!

Thanks Funny Tre, I am thinking about leaving the hand out ultimately. Solder and flesh don't work well. The thought is that the dancer is like the feeling you get from the grapes of the wine. She is the wine. The poor guy who buys this one is going to have to figure out how to dust the inside of the glass, but that is a problem for another day

Amazing eye there Judy. To see a skirt from the melt is the artist coming out for sure. This piece will be art evolving from imagination. Great piece coming to life before our eyes. This process will be fun to watch. Thanks for sharing it with us

Well here is the final segment to the dancer.
I hated everything about the design, changed it 3 times from scratch and hated them too. Finally I ran out of time before the AGG Conference and it was for their auction. So I did a cheesy thing. I cut the skirt into a vase and did a pattern with the rose and leaves, since they were nice.
The pattern and parts sold as a do it yourself kit. I was pleased with some of the questions I got on how to make the rose.
Sorry about the horrible photo. I took it in Detroit and did not have time to take a nice one before I left.
I look forward to seeing how the new owner finishes it.

Cool. Would be neat to see it once it was completed. Are they going to send you a pic of it finished?

I think she will send me a photo when it is finished . If not I won't let her room with us next year . She was our third room mate at the conference.
