I am finally getting a little work done on my project of clocks for the Police Department I retired from, and the County Sheriff's Department as well.

Here are a few pics for you to look at.  This has long been in planning and the works, but am finally making progress.

The first few pics are the glass in preparation stages, and a Sheriffs clock.  The second post will be my departments clocks.

Wow!! Tom Those are really cool and I'm sure they will love them. How many are you making and how big are they? I also love your glass choices.

Nice job Tom.  Bet they will really appreciate them.  Are those emblems decals, the detail in the badge one looks dimensional.

I am making about a dozen of each for starters.  But I actually expect to end up with a ton of orders, maybe even 100 or more, plus reaction so far has been that I will get a bunch of more orders for Christmas.   I am keeping one of each one I make for myself, and will keep a pictorial portfolio, to show other departments when I am finished with the local departments.  I will be giving a few away.  One to the Officer who designed the Police Departments shoulder patch and one to the officer who designed the departments new badge.  Will give a few away to the sheriff's department transport division as when they need an extra person to go on prisoner transports they call me.  I get a little extra pay for those trips, so these will be thank you gifts.

The Sioux City Police Officers Association, and the Woodbury County Deputies Association will be getting a couple of bucks or so from the sale of each clock.  This was required so I could get permission to use there decals.

The Sheriff's clock and the Police Department shoulder patch clock are 8" square, and the badge clock is 6" square, but those are just what I have done so far.  I may change the dimensions a little as I go along just to mix it up, but it wont change much.

Tom,
They all look great and I'm sure you are going to get a ton of orders.  You may have answered this question somewhere else, but I can't find it, so here goes...where did you get the decals?  Did you have them specially made up?

Tom, this is a great project and I'm sure will be a popular gift at Christmas.

I hope I am wrong but when I look at the last picture, I see some cracks fanning out from the center. I hope it is just picking up texture from what ever is behind it.

Nope, not cracks.  I still don't know one kind of glass from another, but those lines are because it is a textured glass.  If it was a heavy texture, it would be difficult to get the decals to lay flat, but this texture is so minor that it doesn't seem to make a difference..

I actually like the look of the badge clock better, even though it is smaller.  I may try the shoulder patch on a smaller glass to see if that looks better as well.

What was the secret that allowed you to drill the holes?

Thank goodness it is not cracks in the glass but the glass texture. I'm with, Kev it looks like it could be Artique, pretty.

The "Thin Blue Line" looks like the texture of GNA or MNA to me. Artique would be pretty rough to put a decal over. But a rolled antique is very feint. Better quality glass too. Tom's got taste!

What a wonderful idea! I know you will do great with these. But all those holes make me crazy looking at them. I have about a 50% success rate myself. I am glad you worked it out.
