I don't know if I put this in the right place, feel free to move it.
On another thread the idea of a North East gathering has been born. It is just at the idea stage so far.
I have put dots where I know people live or will/could be in August on a map. It looks like, if the farthest folks are interested, that Albany area is central, except for Nansea. If I have chosen too large of an area, then Boston may be more central. I am just throwing idea's out there. Boston does have Serpentinos Studio, that does big restoration projects, and a great museum with glass.
I can drive Saturday night, August 21, to the meeting place, visit and see glass on Sunday, and drive to Boston to catch my plane on Monday.
Is there an amazing window in the Albany area?

except for Nansea.
There is nothing, absolutely nothing central to the tip of the Gaspe. You may be able t'see Russia from Sarah's porch, but you can't see a damned thing from Nancy's.

Good find Diane! Nancy, I didn't want you to feel left out. Just in case a miracle happens She can see whales. I can't see those. Graham does this sound interesting to you?

At this point in the game, I'd just say that I wouldn't rule it out. My dance card isn't exactly brimming with activities.

I'll try to be there, as soon as I can iron out the details on a trip I'm taking my granddaughter on before the summer ends. I've planned to take her to the Chincoteague and Assateague islands to see the wildlife reserve, beaches and most especially the wild ponies that live there.
I'd try to work it out to meet up with you all if I can. Of course, I'd vote for the Boston area (sorry Di..) as it's only about 2.5 hrs away vs. 5-6 hours for me.
I hope we can make this happen, would love to meet everyone.
And Nancy..I'll bet we can spy a nice bottle of wine from that deck! He, he..can barely wait my dear!

I like the Boston idea. Because that saves me a bunch of driving. There are a many churches Rebecca and I could not get into because it was a Saturday, and they were locked up. They are all close together. But I am not set on anything. Whatever works best for all. Graham, if you came to Boston, maybe the next day you could go out on an ocean charter. .............Hm, Maybe I would have to stay 2 days and go too.
I am hearing a song in the back of my head, "Please, come to Boston ..... "

I am not sure where others live, but I think Becki is not much farther than Di from Boston. Maybe there are others who would like to join us. What do you think Becki, a train trip north for the weekend? Who else is out there?
Joan, I have been thinking about the matching t-shirt thing, and it just doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy. I am kind of independant for that. But if we get a little mob going we could ask churches or other window sites to give us a little tour or talk, and in that way use the title of the site as our group name.

I don't know the area at all, but was just looking at the map in comparison to Toranto and Buffalo area for Di. It is far, but did not want you to feel left out, Becki.
I am thinking I should contact the great folks at Serpentino's Glass in Needham. They might show us around their shop. They were working on La Farge windows last summer. Very cool! Needham was a few minute train ride out of Boston. I am starting to get into this idea ....... as Rebecca says, "and this is how it starts" ..........

I'm wondering if there is anything in South Western Mass or the northern part of Conn...that would be about 4 hours for me..little more/less. And make it more equitable a drive for others?

I am game for anything!!!!!!! And you guys know the area best.
If I thought it would work I would have us all go back to New York City. Incredible place. And I here DC is a must see. Opps my day dreams are out of control. Back boy, back!
I'll happily go whereever you want. If it is on a train line even better. I'll drop my car in Boston and take the train so I don't have to find my way around.
