Here's the glass I chose for the leaves. The first picture is showing different leaves and colors, the second is a leaf that I lifted up from the base and placed over the adjoining pieces of glass. And the last picture is just to give everyone a laugh. Jack, my lab, is not allowed on the furniture, however, when I walked out to the family room from my glass room, here's what I found.

Jack's look was like "nothing happened", he just very slowly raised up and crawled off the couch and went over to his bed....

That glass definitely looks "Hosta" to me! And I like how it drapes across the front foreleg!
Jack looks like he was in doggie Heaven! One good thing those microfiber fabrics are soo easily cleaned..I have a couch and loveseat that are made of it, and fortunately they do clean well..lol, as my dogs seem to think that the couches are just big dog beds. Jack's train of thought is..when the cat's away..the mice will play. I'll bet he was funny when he got caught..lol.

Here's some progress pictures from today. I decided to elevate some leaves of the hostas, so the first step is to cut the piece to be elevated a little larger then the opening, then cut the pieces that the glass will rest over, foil and tin those pieces. Foil and tin the overlaying piece, then place in position and solder.
Also, I'm really a visual person, so I had to temporarily patina the nose...little things, but they make me happy.
As for Jack, he's a big old baby, not a mean bone in his body and how could I get upset with him? lol

Thank you all for your encouraging words...I really would like to get this done before the weekend. I signed up for a repair class on Saturday and I'm hoping to get two other projects repaired and for the most part done (glass issue with the giraffe). Then, I have two more projects, large panels, to get started on.

Thanks Joan Frances, and appreciate all the tips and comments last night on our chat. It was good to get verification that I was elevating the pieces correctly. As you can see I just decided to elevate some pieces within the frame and not overlay over the frame.

I'm a big fan of texture/3-D aspects and love the idea of raising up some of those leaves! I wonder if Toby will tilt his head sideways in surprise when he sees himself in the window.  |

Here's tonight's progress, I only have one more piece of glass to cut, the mulch - but I'm calling it quits for the night. I have broken the same piece twice, and three times is not going to be a charm for me tonight!
