Hello, Again

I  got Richard La Londe book and he has a recipe for Powder Line Medium - which is the generic name for  "Liquid Stringer".

In the book it shows how to make your own PLM for a fraction of the price of the commercial version.  I am able to find  CMC Gum  in a smaller quantity than the powder and wonder if it's the same thing.  I have read that the powder  molds quite easily and a Lb will last several lifetimes.   it's only 11.00 but a Pint of the CMC gum is 6.00.  Does the gum hold up better?       Does it change the recipe any?

But , I would like to know about CMC Gum vs  powder

Also,   is there any instructions on doing relief fusing using FIBER PAPER anywhere?

Thank you,

He makes it look easy doesn't he?  Some find CMC difficult to work with and finding the right consistancy takes experimenting.  It also makes alot and doesn't keep well unless you add a touch of bleach to the mixture. Do a search on WarmGlass.com...there's lots of info on CMC.

I've experimented with liquid stringer using Liquid Stringer Medium...very easy to use and you can mix up just what you need.

You can also use aloe gel...cheap and easy.
There's alot of info out there about kiln carving...you can find a video demo on the home page of the link I posted above.

Just a reminder...please don't post any portion of Richard's books on the forum without his permission.

No, you didn't...but your original post  seems to have been changed. As a matter of fact there were 2 posts.  The one about no sweater/ warm weather seems to have disappeared, along with all the wave smilies.  Hmmm.............

I believe that was in reference to the possibility of the posting of the recipe for the CMC mix from Richards book.
