Finally here is the first flower laid out on the glass.  I don't know if these pics will come through clear enough so you can see how I laid these out.  This is just where I have laid them out and will put the templates in the specified layout for cutting.  On to the next flower petals

Barbara is laying out the poinsettia petals one flower head at a time.  The procedure she is using was selected before she began.  It is to determine those areas of the glass which will allow her to achieve the same type of shading for the petals and just not lining up the grain or streaking of the glass.  As you can see, each of the petals has a darker area at the top part (the area closest to the center) and shades lighter towards the end of the petal.  When the flower petals are all laid out, she visual checks them to make sure they blend together to form a painted flower.  When she accepts the look, she moves on to the next flower head, as she is doing now.  She is doing a great job.

Yes, I agree that Barbara is laying her pieces out with a very discerning eye!  I took a really good close look at how her pattern pieces were laid out, and although I don't know how they all fit on the pattern, I could imagine how the petals were going to appear and I think she's doing an excellent job with her decisions in the best use of the glass to make the petals look as natural as possible.

It's going to look wonderful!  De

Don't just rock on, HURRY!  I'm impatient and now that you have started I want to see it finished!  I wonder if there is any way to hurry up the others?
