I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I was so absent minded yesterday..I applied the paint 3 times and changed colors. On the third application I realized as I was taking the paint off how soft the matt was...it was then it dawned on me I forgot to add the gum arabic to it...oh well..it was on there then and I was not about to take it all off and go for application number 4. It was a that point I thought I would call it a day...LOL. I also realized that I make a screw up in the pattern too. The section below the white tail feathers was supposed to be white and part of the tail as well....oh well...I'll have to work with what I have....not starting al over again...should be interesting it nothing else.

I bet by the time you're done the part that you were intending to be white under the tail won't even be discernable Kev! This is going to be really striking!

Looks good.  If the paint was doing what you wanted without the gum arabic; don't wory about it.  The gum arabic is only in there so that the paint doesn't wipe off TOO easily.  It will fire fine without it.

A few more applications on the bird and he should be complete, then the background gets started. It's all still a mystery to me but will unfold as I go along.

Me too! his piece is a complete mystery till it's done. I get out there and just say to myself...I don't have a freaking clue what I'm doing....LOL. I have to look into taking some classes. The gal at the local store told me there is a guy in town that is a great painter..I think I will get his name from her and see if he is willing to teach a few classes.

Looking good Kev:) Perhaps you might like to give an on-line tutorial on the steps you do? I've never done anything like that before and have no idea what is required for each step of the process.
