Today's progress.....

A black matt was applied over the entire piece, and then worked. Another heavier black matt will still be applied to the woods area, and worked again.

The first pic is what it looked like coming out of the kiln this morning. It's currently in there again after today's work on it.

Looking amazing Kev. I really like the feather details. Two matts with a firing of 1200 for each one. grin I'm learning:)

Thanks guys. The last firing was a light one and will need another application of paint over the water, but what's good is that the design is already there now so it will go quick. The other nice thing is that if a mistake was made, it would be easy to remedy it with the next matt. The trees will get a heavy application of black, and the bird is done other than the details on the head, feet and tail.

Here is today's progress. Another matt of black paint was applied and is currently firing. If this turns out to be what I'm looking for, then all I will have left are the fine details of the head and the feet.

Here it is after the 5th matt of paint was fired. Next will be the detailing of the head, and darkening of the wooded area.
