I often revisit a topic and find my posting is awol. I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem, I think I remember some mentioning it.
I do wonder if the forum default of not returning to the Topic after posting has something to do with it as I often get someone else has posted and sometimes an error message when I ignor the 'someone else' message.
I know I posted to the Whirl thread after Alan and now I note that within minutes two other responses were made at the time.... I'm not there    ... Boohoo....
I do have ADDI [any distraction does it] and maybe the length of time spent on posting is my problem. Like now, I have made tea, cooked two waffleslost and found my mouse a few times and got a coffee refill whilst composing this!

Huh? it returned to the topic???

Hi Yvonne,

I do know that when I've posted and someone else is attempting to post at the same time I usually get a message to review what I've written just to make sure it is still applicable.  There should be an option on that page that will still allow you to post what you've written, even though someone else's post superceded yours.

I've had no problems with posts disappearing lately.  Not unless I messed up under the situation I mentioned above.
But anything's possible.

When you get the warning message - you MUST click the Post button again in order for the post to show up - otherwise it will probably go into the big bit bucket in the sky.

If, when you reply, and you are NOT returned to the Topic - then it is very possible that your ISP is the culprit - happens once in a while to me - I have HughesNet and they sometimes do not respond in a timely manner and then the post seems to go off into la la land. It is also possible that the server where the forum resides is acting a little wonky - after all it's nothing but a whole bunch of zeros and ones and sometimes they get a wee bit scrambled.

I have found when the message is displayed when another user is updating the same thread I can click on Post again and it will work.  When I have attached pictures and the message appears, I usually copy the text part I just typed and try clicking on the Post button and it doesn't always post but I have a copy of the text to paste and save time.

After clicking on the Post button you only return to the thread/topic if the box is checked. The check box is found in Additional Options section.

Yes, as Alan said you can set the default in your profile and you can override the setting using the checkbox in the additional options.
